Having said that, this is not just a pretty plant! This is an excellent edible plant! The greens and flower are delicious! I like adding the flower to ice cubes for eye-catching drinks. The greens are perfect in any salad situation, especially when younger. I like them in my omelets. They are also lovely prepared in southern-style greens dishes. The leaves are a staple in my morning smoothies. The leaves are quite nutritious, containing vitamins (high in A and C), isoflavone, and genistein. Genistein is believed to prevent prostate cancer, and research is currently investigating this. Viola sororia is the state flower of Illinois, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and Wisconsin. This species is one of the easiest flowers to grow. It is hot and cold hardy. It can tolerate drought, flooding, shade, and prolonged sunlight. What is Included:Ten healthy specimens (consisting of white and purple varieties) will be quickly unearthed, packaged, and shipped to your door.
