Description: George Fisher Daniels (1821-1879) ~ THE STEPPING STONES ~~ ON THE St. GEORGE'S RIVER, MAINE ~ 1865 steel engraving by William Wellstood (1819-1900) This Hudson River School era steel engraving measures 5 3/4" x 4 3/8" (oval format) and is printed on heavy paper measuring 9 3/4" x 6 1/4" with nothing on reverse. From the Ladies Repository. This is absolutely guaranteed to be an original engraving from 1860s, NOT any type of reproduction! The date 1865 was written in pencil by a previous owner on the reverse. In good condition, as illustrated. A nice sharp image with great detail! My family has been in the antiques and design business since 1955.
