Developed between 1871 and 1897, its surviving elements are a preservation of the state's history as a center for the manufacture of household clocks. The company was one of the town's largest employers for many years.This 1909 Gilbert Clock was purchased at an Estate Sale and was sold in a local clock store in Memphis Tennessee. It is believed to have been in the same residence since it was acquired. The wood casing is in distressed condition due to age of clock.
