Description: Antique Divided Back Postcard PC Postmarked 1919 From NEW MATAMORAS, OHIO OH. Card is posted with a one cent stamp and a lengthy message written in ink. Depicts a stop along a DIRT ROAD that looks quite a bit like an OLD GENERAL STORE in a very RURAL AREA. The previous vender of the card mistakenly wrote “New Matamours, OH postmark” on the back. But, my research shows there is a VERY SMALL TOWN CALLED NEW MATAMORAS of WASHINGTON COUNTY in Southeastern Ohio ALONG THE OHIO RIVER. The 2020 POPULATION was at 702. The population has been steadily declining since 1980. It looks to be a nice, family friendly little town. It also has the distinction of being SETTLED BY REVOLUTIONARY WAR VETERANS. Card is in GOOD CONDITION according to the Postcard Rating System with soft corners and very mild edge wear. It has a couple of very faint black spots and lines (barely visible) that look like they occurred during the printing process. Otherwise, I see no evidence of rips, tears, creases, bends, discoloration or pinholes. But, please see photos and you be the judge. Standard size 5.5” x 3.5”.
