1920s Moccasin Flower Trading Card Weber Bread D35? Like Cigarette Silks S49 USA

Description: This fantastic card was issued by the WEBER BROS, Bakery in Irvington New Jersey. as an insert premium in their brands of PULLMAN Bread. Although there is no know date for these cards it is assumed their were issued in the late 1920’s early 1930’s time period. This card is from a scarce series of cards entitled, “ FLOWERS This series is a recent find for me. I have known the small size series which Burdick list as series D35 having been issued by Weber Bread. I had never come across this larger size series before. Unfortunately Burdick does not mention anything about card size when he listed the D35 series in his ACC. It’s hard to know which series he was referring too, the Smaller size set of Flower subject or these larger versions. These cards use the same images as the American Tobacco Company S49 Cigarette Silk series issued in Zira and Nebo Cigarettes. The front of the card features beautiful image of the particular Flower being featured, while the back features advertising. This card features a MOCCASIN FLOWER. The Card measures2 5/8 inches by 3 ¾ inches approximately. The card does have some light wrinkles. I have scanned the card fairly large for you to be able to judge condition for yourself . I think it displays very well. Because of their short print run, and the fact that they are printed on thin paper stock not many survive today. With such fantastic art work and diversity of series, and the fact that they are scarce, bread cards are a great collectable, that are bound to increase in popularity as time goes on.
