Description: This listing is for a very unique 1922 metal brass soccer footbal shaped sports award standing trophy by Dieges & Clust Makers as marked on the baseEngraved in the cup is : Dr Bert Daly Trophy1922Inter City Soccer Football LeagueBayonne, NJ Bert Dale was the Mayor of Bayonne NJ 5 times & a MLB Baseball player for the Philadelphia AthletesThis is a unique and rare item we were not able to find any other soccer balls by this maker only Basketballs and Baseballs. This item shows overall wear including scratches, discoloration, staining, obvious tarnishing. There are 2 stains that appear to be green paint. Expected age wear and discoloration are one major indentations on the top area of the inscription. 2 scratched areas that reveal a silver colored base metal(see pics)Weighs a little less that 4.4 lbs without packagingWe did not attempt to clean this item it is as found. Measures approx. 11" at the highest point the ball is approx. 7" in diameter Dieges and Clust was the premier maker of stock figural trophies from about 1905 to 1930. It appears the company made trophies exclusively for the A.G. Spalding Sporting Goods Company who offered them in their catalogs. To higher end sports collectors, Dieges and Clust is best known for their large impressive figural baseball trophies commonly referred to in the hobby as “Spalding Trophies”.
