Earl Carroll was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1893 and lived in the Nunnery Hill section of the north side of Pittsburgh. Carroll later side he moved because there were too many tin cans and goats up there, then.. Carroll produced and directed numerous Broadway musicals, including eleven editions of the Earl Carroll's Varities, Earl Carrolls's Sketch Book and Murder at the Vanities. Earl was known as the Troubadour of the Nude. Carroll was famous for his productions featuring the most lightly clad showgirls on Broadway. Photo # 7 shows contestant Betty Joice, from Dalda Dau Gamma Sorority. Betty was also known as Elizabeth Marie Joice. Photo # 8 shows Contestant Margaret Alison, who originally was from Coeur D' Alene, Idaho and a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. This was her Senior Year Photo # 9 shows Contestant Kathryn Irene Jones who was from Salt Lake City and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Kathryn was a Senior this year. Photo # 10 shows JoAnn Monica Merriman who was a Sophomore this year and a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Photo # 11 shows Contestant Betty Mary Meenach, who was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. Betty was a Sophomore this year. Photo # 12 shows a group photo of all the Contestants. There were 25 names submitted which was whittled down to 5 girls. Photos 13 and 14 show the members of the Phi Beta Phi Sorority. Photo # 15 shows the members of the Agriculture Club and all are students in the College of Agriculture. The University of Idaho-led Idaho Center for Agriculture Food or CAFE recently broke ground on May 4th, 2023 for a new Agriculture Facility in Rupert, Idaho, located in Minidoka County, covering 628 acres. The long awaited facility which will include the nation's largest research dairy with over 2000 diary cows. Photo 15 shows the new Dairy Location. Photo # 16 shows the Ground Breaking Ceremony with Michael Parrella, Dean of the University of Idaho College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. These 2 photos are not in the yearbook. Part of the funding necessary which is $45,000,000.00 comes from the amazing high price the University of Idaho received for the 282 acres of Agricultural land in 2021 in Caldwell, Idaho of $23,250,000.00 which was sold after spirited bidding between home builders. The land was no longer used for experimental farming. Most school officials from the President on down were amazed and overjoyed at the price. They were hoping for maybe $9,000,000.00 if they got lucky. Photo # 16 shows the Members of the Letterman Club. Photos 17 and 18 show Registration Day as it was in 1940. Top Shelf.
