1940’s-1950’s ADMIRAL PORTABLE TUBE SUITCASE RADIO 6P32-6E1, PALM TREE & BEACH

Description: Admiral Model# 6P32-6E1 portable radio suitcase style tube radio with Serial #1127046. The case measures 13 inches wide by 11 1/8 inches tall by 6 inches front to back. It weighs 10 pounds 9.5 ounces. It has the palm tree and beach themed metal perforated grill. The knobs are original and the original glass dial has no damage. The covering is a dark brown simulated alligator material. We found a March 29, 1947 Philadelphia newspaper rolled up in the bottom interior compartment behind the cord. We have left it there along with some pieces of cardboard that are under the cord. The cord is dirty but not frayed. I have seen differing statements on the year of manufacture. Most state 1946 to 1947. One stated 1951. I have looked for more information online verifying the year but have not found anything. There is some soiling and darkening and wear to the covering. The carrying handles show considerable wear with some losses to the bottoms and metal repairs to the bottom of one. They do still function to carry the radio although we advise caution as they are sufficiently worn that they might break with use. We have read that this radio could be powered by either batteries or by use of the cord. We are offering it as not working as we have not plugged it in. It might not be safe to plug in. We are selling it in as is as found condition. We do not know how this type of radio worked with batteries. There is wear to the metal closure piece with the Admiral name as can be seen in the photos. Please see photos. The back opens to reveal the interior by placing a finger in the hole in the back and pulling. This item is inventory #10676.
