The Florida Marlins 1993 Inaugural Year Spring Training home was in Cocoa Expo Stadium 11 miles south of the yet to be built Space Coast Stadium on I-95. Cocoa Expo Stadium was the Spring Training home of the Houston Astros for 21 years prior to their move to Kissimmee. Space Coast Stadium's first official game was the 1994 Florida Marlins Spring Training Opening Day. The Marlins beat the Kansas City Royals 9-6 in front of 7,494 fans.
