Description: I can never resist a great under-the-sea novelty print, & this late 1930s/early 1940s pinup swimsuit in red, white & blue, is just incredible! The fabric is a rayon blend that's made to look like raw silk-love the halter strap that laces through loops at the back waist, that gives a bit of flexibility in terms of size & fit-they're long enough to wrap them around your waist too! Adorable flower-shaped amber (Bakelite?) buttons in the back for closure! The top is unlined, the inner bottoms are ivory wool (which was common in swimwear) but you could remove it & find some regular swimsuit bottoms. The label is 'Ocean Bathing Suit Co. New York' l'd put the size at about XS-M with bust up to 34/36-though the back is open & the cups aren't tiny, the wool is stretchy with waist (conservatively) of 24-28, hips 30-36, & 19 inch rise. This piece is 80+ years old & is in stunning condition! Perhaps a hint lighter in color in the front-super minor, & there are moth bites in the wool bottoms but they're clean! Still incredibly modern, in a fabulous print!!!
