Antique 1860s Leather 48 Photo Album w/Metal Latch Closure. 43 CDV/5 Tintype.

Description: Antique 1860s photo album with latch style, snap closure. The album is 96% full and contains 48 photos. It appears to be a leather wrapped album with wonderful detailing. The albums cover is rather nice for the age. There is wear, as expected, yet the latches are still well attached and close tightly. The name "Maggie Miller" is printed on the front. The front paper page had an "index to portraits" and has the names of 12, which are nearly all with the last name of Miller. There are 50 photo slots, and only 2 are without a picture. Within the other slots, there appears a variety of photos from young babies to children, women, and men. One photo also has a dog in it. There appears to be 43 CDV and 5 Tintype images. There are photographers' details on the back of most showing Rothermans NY to Illinois. Not every photo was checked for dates. However, 1867 is found on the back of one. This photo album measures approx 5.75" tall x 4.5" wide x 2.75" thick. The thickness was measured from the bottom edge. The book spine has separated, though the front & back pages are attached to the cover. This is a nice collection, with a great variety of family pictures.
