Sign Up Antique Dresden Carl Thieme Reticulated Footed Compote Comport Cake Plate Floral Product description ANTIQUE DRESDEN CARL THIEME RETICULATED FOOTED COMPOTE COMPORT CAKE PLATE FLORAL PATTERN Offered here is a wonderful antique Dresden "Carl Thieme" reticulated cake plate/compote. The top of the plate features a beautifully hand painted floral pattern and gold gilding around the rim. Something fascinating about this item is the fact that many of the floral patterns are painted directly onto the reticulated areas which in turn gives the piece an elegantly rich look. One thing to note is that a small chip was previously filled in on the bottom but not painted out. Also, professional restorations have been completed on one of the reticulated areas on the top and on a small area of the foot where it hits the table. However, neither of these restorations are visible to the naked eye without the aid of a loop or magnifying glass. Overall this piece is a beautifully crafted work of art that stands the test of time and will most certainly impress.
