Description: This antique Japanese TANUKI boxwood carving bell figure from the Meiji period. The intricate wood carving is a beautifully carved original piece from Japan's rich artistic history. Figure measures aprox. 9 1/2” tall, 3 1/2” wide at stomach and 4 1/2” deep at stomach, hand carved makers mark underside one foot picture, this foot has an old repair that can be seen in photo, missing the mallet that fits in hand for knocking on bell stomach, little surface wear but very good condition. The statue is a perfect addition to any antique collection and is sure to be a conversation starter.
