Its an 18th century hand block printed, French textile dating c 1750 , perhaps even first quarter of the 18th? This fabulous textile is a seamed length with spectacular small scale , hand block printed border on the edges. Most likely printed in Marseilles or perhaps Montpellier ~ This textile is hand block printed using the wonderful madder tones. The ground is a loosely woven cotton. Nothing short of spectacular to have found an 18th century textile intact, and still in remarkable condition for its age! ~*~ MEASUREMENTS: This textile measures 66 inches wide by 76 inches long ~*~ CONDITION: This fabric is in as found not freshly laundered condition. This textile was once hung by nails and around the edges are some small holes surrounded by rust. There are some holes in the body of this piece, some marks and some staining too.
