Description: Antique WW1 dated Alidade, mapping and surveying instrument in an original leather case dated 1917. Manufactured by: Houghton Butcher Mfg. Co. Ltd., London 1917 and Serial No. 6319 with a Government 'Broad Arrow' stamped below. the sides of the instrument are marked in inches on one side and thousands of feet on the other. The hinge up ends are slotted and one has a crosswire and the other slot is narrower for sighting. In superb condition. The leather case is also in good condition but needs a little restitiching to the sides just below the top flap, also the flap closure strap has lost is end and is too short to buckle.
