Description: *DEAL OF THE MONTH* BUY IT NOW - a very large and impressive Standing Female Figure from the state of Jalisco in western Mexico. She is very well made, painted using red and cream colours typical of the area. She is depicted wearing an ankle length skirt, which is decorated with a painted geometric textile pattern. She wears a small nose ring and disc ear ornaments/spools, along with a headband or hat. Measures 16 1/4 inches tall. Several areas of scattered mineral deposits on the surface attest to her great age and authenticity. Most of the large figures from the Shaft Tomb culture are heavily repaired, as is expected after 2000 years in the ground. However, this figure has just one significant repair, with her head being expertly reattached with restoration over the breakline, otherwise intact. A beautifully sculpted example. Dates in the range of 200BC-250AD. From the collection of a former Sotheby's Pre-Columbian associate dealer, Robert Sides, who resides in the Los Angeles area. Also previously in an old Tucson Arizona collection, as well as a southern California collection. Quality large Pre-columbian figures don't come along too often, especially at this price point! Don't miss out!
