Description: Colorado State 3x5 Flag - 200 Denier Colorado State 3x5 Flag - 200 Denier Official Colorado State Flag From 1911 Present The Colorado State flag was officially adopted on June 5th, 1911. Designed by Andrew Carlisle Carson, the artwork consists of three horizontal stripes equal in width. The top and bottom stripes are blue while the center stripe is white. A circular red C is filled with a golden disk and sits slightly off-center towards the hoist end of the flag. The blue represents the sky, while the white is for the snow-capped mountains seen all over the states landscape. The gold symbolizes both the abundant sunshine the land receives as well as the gold mining industry in the state. Red represents both the ruddy earth and silver mining. Colorado officially became the 38th state on August, 1st 1876. The state seal on a blue background became the unofficial flag until 1907 when a flag design incorporating parts of the state seal along with the state motto Nil sine numine which is Latin for Nothing without Providence or Deity was adopted. This flag design was so unpopular that it was rarely displayed and many people did not even know of its existence, including the members of the committee assembled by the Denver chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution who undertook the task of creating a flag design for the state of Colorado as they were under the impression that none existed. Ultimately the Carson design easily won popular support and that flag design became the official one for the state. Except for a few minor revisions made by the legislatures in 1929 and 1964, the flag that was adopted in 1911 still remains Colorados state flag today. Printed flag with rich color.
