Description: VG. October 21, 1970 - Boston Garden. Program and Ticket Stub from The Celtics’ Home Opener for the 1970-71 season against the Detroit Pistons. Game featured two of the top draft picks - Bob Lanier (overall #1 pick) making the 5th NBA appearance of his illustrious career; and Dave Cowens (the 4th overall pick) playing in his first ever regular season home game, as well as his 5th career NBA Game. Cowens had a monster game posting 22 points & 20 rebounds and John Havlicek chipped in 33 points, but the Celtics couldn’t overcome the Pistons, led by Dave Bing’s 35 points, and Detroit came away with a 121 - 118 victory. Nice little piece of basketball history.
