Description: DISNEY AUCTIONS Mickey Mouse “EXTRA EXTRA HAPPY 3rd ANNIVERSARY” Limited Edition of 100 collectible Jumble 2-1/2” PIN…it was created to celebrate Disney Auctions third anniversary in business.., It is from my PERSONAL COLLECTION…letting go of it after many years… It comes from a smoke-free (but not pet-free) home… BRIEF HISTORY of DISNEY AUCTIONS: Disney Auctions (2000-2006)…Disney Auctions started as a promotional/marketing business unit initially part of the Internet arm of the company (back in the dot com days)… Disney Auctions in the beginning was in partnership with eBay…these 2 giants in their own industries had a difficult relationship that only lasted a couple years… Disney Auctions launched in the fall of 2000 under the eBay user name “DISNEYAUCTIONEARS”…some of the first items auctioned was a DISNEYLAND entrance sign with 17’ letters that sold to John Stamos…other item included a DUMBO ride and the Porsche from the Bruce Willis move Disney’s THE KID… Disney Auctions quickly went from just a marketing business to a revenue business…one of the many products that Disney Auctions created were large limited edition trading PINS…many of the LE 100 pins that were auctioned sold for ridiculously high prices! After many years of great successes auctioning experiences, artifacts, props, Disney & movie memorabilia and limited editions pins & other collectible products; Disney Auctions was seen as directly competing with other bigger older business units and was merged in 2005 into DISNEY STORES where it died a slow death in a couple years (approximately 2006)…
