Description: Split-nut era 26 in. No. 7 crosscut saw. Blade is stamped “9” at the heel but the saw appears to be filed 10 PPI. Blade marked “Disston & Son,” but eagle medallion reads “Disston & Sons.” This would date the saw it to the period 1871-1875, when the first such medallions appeared following the official entry of Henry Disston’s second son into the company in 1871. Blade appears to have seen little wear. It is 7 in. wide at the heel and 3 in. at the nib. It is well-jointed and still fairly sharp. On the down side, the blade is not perfectly true (there is a slight bow). The other condition issue is the handle. The top horn appears to have been slightly shortened, and there is a crack through the middle of the handle. This may be reparable, if you are up to the task, but right now the brass screws and plit-nuts are holding the handle together well (see photos).
