Description: Fur-Fish-Game, August 1977. Photos 1, 2 and 3 show the front cover, back cover and table of contents. Photo # 4 shows the first page of a 2 page article about Ducks Unlimited by William Hilts. Photo # 5 shows a close up of the photo of a pair of wood ducks by Don Cook as the Wood Ducks utilize man made habit that Ducks Unlimited has worked on over the last 40 years. Photos 6 and 7 show the first 2 pages of a 3 page article on fishing for bass in old abandoned mine quarries in Southern Illinois by John B Gleason, called Mining for Largemouth Bass. The first photos shows Dick Bocian, John Gleason's fishing partner holding his trophy bass, which weighed 7.5 lbs. Photo # 8 shows an advertisement for Remington Guns for a great looking, shooting 22, featuring Yankee's Baseball Star, Jim Catfish Hunter, who was one of the most successful right handed pitchers of the 1960's and 1970'. He was nicknamed Catfish by Oakland Athletics (A's) owner, Charlie Finley, because of the pitcher's love for fishing. Catfish Hunter was the Ace of the Oakland A's team that won four consecutive American League Pennents (1971 -1974) and three consecutive World Series (1972 - 1974). The Remington Nylon 66 was manufactured from 1959 to 1989. It was one earliest mass produced rifles to feature a stock made from a material other than wood. The firearms industry generally lacked experience with synthetic stocks, making the Nylon 66 a risky gamble for Remington. The model name was taken from the Dupont polymer (material) of the same name. After the Nylon 66 rifle proved to be successful, Remington also marketed a series of bolt action and lever action rifles using Nylon stocks. There was K Mart version of the 22 rifle produced, called the 77 Apache which had a bright green stock. This version was also made with a detachable 10 round magazine which in contrast to the standard version was often unreliable. There were 54,000 K Mart 77 Apache's produced. For reference I have included a picture of 2 Kmart Apache, Seneca Greens in their original boxes. I believe the color Seneca Green was just made up by Remington because their factory in New York was near Seneca County. The Remington Firearms Company as since moved their factory and headquarters to the State of Virginia. The picture of the Kmart Apache, 22 rifle is not in the magazine its just there for reference. Shelf # 43.
