GRANT AND RESIGNATION OF WILLIAM T. SHERMAN General orders No. 24 signed by Samuel Cooper as Adjutant General approving the promotion of Ulysses S. Grant and resignation of William T. Sherman from the War Department on October 11, 1853. A remarkable association between the highest ranking Confederate general and the two leading Union generals of the Civil War. Contains five pages with one blank leaf, measures 7 by 4.75 inches, and in very good condition with dampstaining along the borders.
