Because they were stored in a warehouse for who knows how long they have a "old" smell to them. I don't what to whip them with anything as I didn't was to ruin the plastic or cover This record was stored in a warehouse with no climate control. I am not a professional record grader but I will give my honest opinion about the item. I did not test this as I don't have the time to test the amount I have.
