Description: Harman Kardon D1000 This is not a "Just found it at a garage sale unit." (Note - I have kept the price lower than its actual value, which will leave me with little for my outlay on this wonderful unit. But,I figure, this would help get it into the hands of someone who truly loves vintage history - and a very good sounding receiver.) Manufactured in 1954 This unit is a rare, extremely clean example of the first Receiver ever manufactured in the US. HK beat Fisher by several months This unit comes close to the cleanest example of this unit that I have ever seen; It will would look beautiful in any house, (but especially in a Mid-Century setting.) It was quite a unit in its day. State of the art - with Avant-Garde Deco Styling. Never to be duplicated after the original Festival Series ended. This unit was tested through a transparent special finish Sequerra Met 7.7 MK 4 speaker and a Met 8W Woofer. A moderately priced transparent sounding Magnavox DVD player was used, playing a selection of good audio CDs The sound was considerably open with an overall non-fatiguing musical sound. The AM and FM reception works. The unit itself has collector value - but, as it is a musical instrument is was gone through and refurbished to make sure it functioned well. Excellent Plus Electronically refurbished. New 5U4GB & 5881 Tubes were installed. All resistors / capacitors were checked / changed. AM & FM strong. Wonderful open musical sound.
