Description: This handsome Pottery Mug was manufactured by John Maddock & Sons Ltd to commemorate the SILVER JUBILEE of Their Majesties King George V and Queen Mary in 1935. A decal transfer of the images of Their Majesties, set in a cartouche, was used to decorate one side of the mug. Also featured in this design are the national flags, a crown, the national flowers -- Tudor Rose, daffodil, thistle, and shamrock, that bear the banner showing "1910 1935". On the other side of the mug is an intertwined "GR", set in a cartouche with a crown at top. Around the upper rim is a banner that bears the commemoration, "GEORGE V AND QUEEN MARY SILVER JUBILEE". Typical of pottery and the age of this piece, the mug's exterior bears much "crazing", but not so true of the interior. Along the lower rim are pottery imperfections that probably occurred as part of the firing process in the kiln. The underside of the mug is backstamped with the John Maddock & Sons LTD/ Royal Vitreous/ Made in England logo. Also, the logo for the British Manufacturers Federation is also represented.
