Description: This listing is for a charming pewter collector plate dated 1978 which depicts the "Little Town on the Prairie" - De Smet, South Dakota from the "Little House on the Prairie" story. The upper edge of the center scene says Laura Ingalls Wilder and the lower edge says "Visiting at Loftus Store". The approximate diameter is 7 3/4-inches and the condition is very good with any imperfections being minor. This plate has become increasingly difficult to find. I haven't seen one become available on eBay for decades. Little House on the Prairie aired from 1974 to 1983 and is one of the longest running successful dramatic family shows in United States television history. The TV series was loosely based on the real stories written by Laura Ingalls Wilder and depicted pioneer life in America. The family includes Charles, his wife Caroline and their four children, Mary, Laura, Carrie and Grace. If you're a true Little House on the Prairie fan, you may remember that Melissa Gilbert was chosen for the role of "half pint" Laura from among over 500 other child stars auditioning.
