He was also a collector of science-fiction novels and pulps and penned The Index of Science Fiction Magazines 1951-1965 which indexed the contents of seventy-two English-language science fiction and fantasy magazines alphabetically by author and by title and included a separate list of indexed magazines, and a list of editors. He was also the anonymous editor of The Science-Fictional Sherlock Holmes, published by fellow fan Robert C Peterson.
