Description: Lot of two cars from the History of Chevrolet by National Motor Museum Mint. 1918 Chevy 490 Touring1:32 scale diecast. hood and doors open.Although automobile industry sales suffered in 1918 due to steel shortages and military production, there were still important changes going on at Chevrolet. Most importantly, General Motors purchased the assets of Chevrolet Motor Company in May, and Chevrolet became a division of GM. In the Chevrolet showroom the "Baby Grand" was renamed the "490 Touring". This 5-passenger touring car featured new springs for exceptional handling in corners, wood spoke wheels, and a stylish mohair top on open models. The 490 platform was also beefed up and modified as Chevrolet produced its first trucks in 1918. The popular series would have a lasting impression on the automobile industry as Chevrolet passed Buick in 1918 to take third place for total sales. It wouldn't be long before Chevrolet would climb past Ford and become the leader in the race for automotive supremacy. 1932 Chevy Openn Cab Pickup Truck1:32 scale diecast , hood and doors open. The Depression took a considerable toll on the automotive industry in 1932, and Chevrolet was no exception. But that didn't stop Chevrolet from improving its already popular vehicles. All Chevrolets were renamed as the Confederate Series, and each was produced with the smooth, silent, three-speed Synchromesh transmission. Half-ton trucks were given four body types and 95 new features for the model year. The engine was changed from the standard automobile engine to a new truck-only power plant. Springs were redesigned for a better ride and increased load carrying. And with louvered hoods, 18-inch wire spoke wheels, black radiators and headlight shells; Chevrolet trucks were easily recognizable on the roads of America in 1932. Although total sales were cut in half from 1931, and truck sales dropped below 100,000 for the first time since 1926, Chevrolet remained well ahead of Ford and finished the year strong as the #1 automobile manufacturer in the world. Both cars come with Description card, Certificate of Authenticity, and original styrofoam and box.
