Description: The Maiasaura Dinosaur Egg Shell found in the Cretaceous Montana. Maiasaura from Greek means "caring mother lizard"In the mid-1970s, near Choteau, Montana, a remarkable discovery was made by Marion Brandvold Trexler: fossilized dinosaur eggs belonging to the species Maiasaura. These eggs, which were later apart of her son’s collection, were found in what is now known as the “Egg Mountain” site, part of the Two Medicine Formation. The find included nests containing multiple eggs, some of which had fossilized embryos, providing significant insight into the reproductive behavior and developmental stages of Maiasaura. This discovery, made by Trexler and later studied by paleontologist Jack Horner, helped establish that these dinosaurs exhibited complex nesting behaviors and parental care, revolutionizing our understanding of dinosaur biology.
