Description: National Bank of Detroit Post Card - Main Office Circa 1959 Condition: Excellent, postally unused. Corners are pristine; card has no stains, bends or tears. Type: Chrome Description: Shown on this card is the main office of the National Bank of Detroit. Designed by Architect Albert Kahn, it sits on the site of Detroit's first skyscraper, the Hammond Building, at 611 Woodward Avenue. Construction was completed in 1959. This building was renamed Chase Tower in April 2006 after what was once NBD, and later Bank One, was acquired by JP Morgan Chase & Co. Just visible at the right side of the card is Detroit's Old City Hall, which fell to the wrecking ball in 1961. Back Caption: National Bank of Detroit - new main office The new main office of National Bank of Detroit, which is devoted exclusively to banking, is a striking addition to the Detroit skyline. This modern building of contemporary design and 14 stories high, is finished in white marble and stainless steel. The alternating pattern of the windows, with their panels of Royal Umber color, forms an interesting and unusual tapestry effect. National Bank of Detroit is Michigan's largest bank.
