Description: Marc Bilagody was born in 1972 to the Sun Clan. He was raised in Kykotsmovi on Second Mesa, Arizona. He has a degree in computer engineering but returned to the Mesa for a quieter, traditional lifestyle. He learned to carve by watching his father, Albert Bilagody. He has been carving for more than fifteen years. He carves dolls based on Kachinas that he’s personally observed. He likes to use somewhat brighter colors than other carvers, and more fabrics, leathers, and shells. He often carves late at night while his three young children are in bed. Mark also makes drums, which are used by many traditional singing groups at Hopi. He drums for several traditional groups in his community. This beautiful and intricate Hopi/Sun Clan Kachina Doll is a true work of art. Hand-carved with care by the talented artisan Marc Bilagody, this traditional and authentic doll depicts a White Bear, a powerful symbol in the Hopi culture. Its history and provenance are well-documented and available upon request. The doll is made with high-quality materials and is a perfect addition to any Native American art collection.
