Description: Latvia ORDER OF VIESTURS 1938 Viesturis Rex was a famous king on ancient Latvia and ruled 1205-1225 He was the leader of the Zemgale tribe The order was founded 1938 on the 20th anniversary of Latvian Independence. It was awarded in recognition of accomplishment in the training, development, and improvement of the national forces, the maintaining or strengthening of state security and public order and the defense of state borders. There were 2 divisions civil and military each had 5 classes. The badge on the storyboard is a civil (w/o swords)division 5th class knight (kavaleris) 503 were awarded in this class. The medal on the board is a civil division 3rd class medal in bronze. 370 bronze medals both divisions. The ribbon bar is also included with the middle red ribbon with a star being a Viesturs order ribbon.The collection package includes what is pictured on the storyboard.
