Description: An 8 3/4" tall deep PURPLE AMETHYST colored round-cylinder-shaped antique GRANITE STATE SPRING WATER bottle with a picture of a man and woman camped on a mountain lake embossed on the full front of the bottle?! This is a very early hand Blown Into Mold bottle (BIM) with a tooled top, dating back to the late 1880 - early 1900 era. Bottle embossed: "TRADE MARK / (FULL embossed picture of what looks like a man and woman camping on a mountain lake) / GRANITE STATE SPRING / WATER CO. / ATKINSON DEPOT, N.H." Strange in the embossing, the bottle has an incredibly detailed picture of what looks like a man and woman camping on a mountain lake embossed down the front. And what is wonderful is the dark purple color and on account of this you can see every detail of the embossing because you are looking right at the embossing. With clear glass, you look through the embossing which is heavily influenced by the color and light patterns in the background. With this deep purple color, you are looking, not through the glass but right at the glass, so that every little embossed detail is highly visible. More about this purple color ... this bottle was exposed to a high heat/light source to enrich the purple color that would naturally occur if exposed to sun light for a prolonged period of time. Only clear glass from before 1914 will turn sun-colored-amethyst.
