Released in 1980, the Model 3260 topped their MCS receiver line, producing ample power at an impressive 0.02% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), making this impressive offering a real sleeper for the true audiophile! The Model 3260 has a digital-synthesis AM/FM tuner with an amplifier section specified to deliver its rated power into 8-ohm loads from 20 to 20,000 Hz with no more than 0.02 per cent distortion. It is a full-feature receiver with six memory buttons (each usable for one FM and one AM station), a digital frequency display whose large (1/2-inch) green numerals can be read from a considerable distance, and LED indicators for signal strength, input source, operating mode, and the audio power output of each channel. The displays occupy the upper half of the panel behind a full-width window. Small buttons just below the display window select the program source (am, fm, phono, aux) and increase the sensitivity of the power display by ten times or switch it off entirely. Larger buttons across the bottom of the panel control two sets of speaker outputs, the audio filters (subsonic and high), AF MUTE (a 20-dB volume reduction), loudness compensation, mono/stereo MODE, FM MUTING, and the MPX FILTER (to remove the FM-multiplex pilot carrier from the audio outputs when recording).Lever switches control power, tape dubbing from either of two decks to the other, and the tape monitor functions. The three tone-control knobs (bass, mid, treble) have center detents, and there is a pair of large concentric knobs for volume and balance. The rear apron of the receiver contains the signal input and output jacks, two a.c. outlets (one switched), and antenna binding posts plus a hinged, pivoted AM ferrite-rod antenna. The two sets of speaker connectors are the insulated spring-loaded type. Condition:This gorgeous receiver is in "Excellent" condition with minimal signs of use and a nice, bright dial! We are very picky about condition and any deck must meet several requirements before we will call a receiver Mint, let alone New. So what puts the "Y" in Minty? After a close inspection, we found a nice, clean front panel, just a few minor corner dings and very light scratches to the veneer and prevented us from calling this beauty fully "Mint!" All the original knobs are present & complete, as are the feet and attached AM Antenna & AC cord. The manual has gone missing, but no worries, it's available online or we will send you the PDF file directly on request. A bonus NEW FM Dipole Antenna is included. Please do inspect all the pictures thoroughly for actual condition.Service:On inspection, this unit worked fine with just a little scratchiness and inconsistency to the controls, so it went to our tech for the usual servicing. Even after a thorough cleaning, our tech found most of the tuner buttons were still inconstant, so he decided all the switches needed replacement, along with the foam backings. So all nine were upgraded to brand new, high quality Diptronics tactile switches which were surrounded with custom foam inserts to assure correct button response. He also found the battery had trouble holding the presets for an extended time with power removed, so a new NiCad battery was also installed. It's this kind of thoughtful, preventative servicing that makes it smart to buy from a company with an experienced, in-house technician! Even though we are in a remote area it was able to pull in all our local FM stations with the included wire antenna and lighting the Stereo, Quartz Lock & Signal LED's.
