Description: Original CDV of Young Child Wearing Super COWBOY/WESTERN OUTFIT, c.1880-90 DESCRIPTION: Really rare Carte de Visite Photo of young child shown wearing WESTERN / COWBOY outfit. Probably a boy, but possibly a girl which would make it even rarer…..hard to tell for sure because outfit has a skirt and child is wearing strap shoes. Back then, there was not much difference in shoe styles and it was not uncommon for young children of both sexes to wear dresses. In any event, LARGE COWBOY HAT IS CLEARLY VISIBLE, AS IS THE LONG WHIP THE CHILD IS HOLDING !!! This is one of the neatest images I have ever seen. Standard Carte de Visite format, 2 ½” x 4”. Photographer is shown at the bottom in gold, “Austin, 445 West St., Faversham”. Black border and reverse, with gold edges. Circa 1880 – 90, when Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show was quite popular.
