Painter, sculptor, draftsman, and illustrator Roberto Fabelo studied at the National School of Art and the Higher Institute of Art in Havana, Cuba. Throughout his career as an artist, he has been awarded numerous prizes and distinctions, including the Medal for National Culture (Cuba), the Alejo Carpentier Medal, first place at the 11th International Drawing Biennial in the United Kingdom, first place at the First Ibero-American Watercolor Biennial in Viña del Mar, Chile, and a UNESCO prize for the promotion of Fine Arts. Considered one of the most important artists in Cuban visual arts, an excellent draftsman, Fabelo showcases a figurative work with expressive and surrealistic elements, suggesting through his fantastic imagery.
