Shakespeare-King Richard II, King Henry IV, King Henry V(Pickering 1904)Lot of 2

Description: Lot of two books: The Works of William Shakespeare: The Extended Pickering Text, with Introductions by George Brandes, Notes, and Glossary [Cambridge-Pickering Edition]. Printed For Subscribers Only By Croscup and Sterling Company, New York. Printed by T. and A. Constable, Edinburgh. This lot is Volumes Nine and Ten. Three complete Shakespeare plays from the same set. Hardcover / hardbound in dark blue cloth, and gilt on top of each book (see photo), 1904 (MCMIV): King Richard II, King Henry IV, and King Henry V. The bindings are both reasonably tight. There are no real issues with the covers. There is no writing inside except a light penciled price in the front of each volume. Issues: The pages are not all cut the same length (you only notice this in paging through the books). Some pages are of a very thick paper, while others are very thin -- an odd publishing inconsistency! But the main item to be aware of is that all the pages have some sort of staining. Not from liquid, but I would guess it's in the very properties of the paper. It looks like soiling, but is not, as each 'stain' is mirrored on the opposite page. Please see my last three photographs for examples of some of the worst stains. None of it obliterates any text, and is generally limited to the very wide margins; but, again, it's on every page. Some of it is light, and some much darker. A final issue is this: Each volume lists four illustrations, with their page number. However, each volume only has two illustrations, each of which are repeated on the page following the first one. There are no signs whatever of any pages having been torn out or cut; so I believe the missing two illustrations from each book were intended, but never actually included. Instead, there are duplicates of the two that do appear. If you have any questions, or would like further photos, please feel free to ask. I don't see these listed anywhere (not this publisher), so I don't know how to price them. This seems like a fair start; and if not, I won't mind if you point it out to me. I do combine shipping, wich includes tracking. Upon mailing these, I will notify the buyer later that same day, with the tracking number.
