Royal (N 23). Participated in the battles: Kirchberg, Hohenlinden, Austerlitz, Jena, Charnovo, Eylau, Tann, Eckmühl, Wagram, Flessingen.The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th battalions of the regiment took part in the campaign to Russia.To reinforce the regiment located in Russia, 2 companies of the 5th reserve battalion were sent from the regiment's depot. They were in the 2nd marching semi-brigade of the marching division of Count Lagrange, the Eleventh Army Corps and also, following the main forces of the regiment, crossed the border of the Russian Empire as part of the following units:-- 2nd marching battalion of the First Army Corps - 1 officer of the 71st lower ranks.-- 3rd marching battalion of the First Army Corps, which left Berlin on August 8, 1812, - 1 officer - 38 lower ranks.The 48th Regiment was part of the 3rd Brigade of the 2nd Infantry Division of Divisional General Count Louis Friant, First Army Corps.The regiment was commanded by Colonel Baron Joseph Groigne. Under his command on June 25, 1812 there were 98 officers and 3,270 lower ranks.In the Battle of Borodino, the regiment commander, Colonel Baron Joseph Groigne, was seriously wounded. Instead, Jean-Jacques-J. Pele-Clousot became the new commander of the 48th Line Infantry Regiment on October 11.In the Russian Company, the regiment took part in the battles of Borodino, Mozhaisk, Krasny, Berezina.All 5 battalions that took part in the Russian Company were defeated or destroyed. Only 20 officers and 45 soldiers managed to get out of Russia after all the battles and minor skirmishes, cold, hunger and partisan attacks on the retreating Great Army.
