Stomachion - Archemedes, Calibron 12, & Podiatrist Lot Of 3 Packing Puzzles 🧩

Description: Stomachion - Archemedes Packing Puzzle And Frame Difficulty 9/10 536! Solutions. Condition is "New". Shipped with USPS First Class. Product Description The Stomachion is perhaps the world's oldest puzzle and it is very difficult to solve. It is attributed to Archimedes of Greece (287 BC - 212 BC). The 14 acrylic precision cut pieces (please note that acrylic colors vary) ,1/4" thick, will make a square and also many other interesting shapes, with each shape requiring all the pieces. It comes with 19 other shapes that can be made beyond the square. Mathematician Bill Cutler determined in 2003 that there are 536 unique ways to assemble the square shape. See how many you can find. Finding even one beyond the one packaged with the set is a good accomplishment. There is an amazing story about Archimedes' scrolls, the Palimpsest, which was cut up, written over and eventually recovered through a journey of more than two thousand years. The Stomachion puzzle was found on these scrolls. There are many excellent websites containing fascinating historical and mathematical aspects of the Stomachion. Description Can you fit all the pieces into the base? An attractive and fun puzzle yet very difficult. The pieces show scenes or items associated with the Podiatrist medical profession. They are finely detailed and laser cut from 1/4" thick wood. There will be at least 4 different woods used in each puzzle and each puzzle will be a little different as we will mix up the woods. Pieces include Foot x-ray, Crutch, Examination chair, Foot/Nail care tools, Procedure with Scalple, Post Surgery Boot, Needle, Nail Nipper, left and right foot, Pill Bottle, Stethoscope and more This puzzle can be personalized with a name or short message on the inner frame or on the cover. Might make a great gift for your care giver. Select that option below if you would like this. Measures about 7.5" square in the base and cover. Product Description The objective is to fit all the pieces in the large square opening. There is only 1 solution and it is very difficult to find. We packaged the puzzle unsolved, but the solution is provided. In the frame I made an extra space to hold one of the pieces so that we could package it unsolved. Our version is made from precision cut woods with at least 4 different woods in each puzzle. Ash, Maple, Walnut, Oak, Mahogany, Birch, Cherry, Alder, and other woods may be used with each puzzle have a little unique look. The pieces are very strong at 1/4" thick and have a nice finish. One of the many things I like about this puzzle is that it does not look nearly as difficult as it actually is. People seem to get absorbed in it quite readily as you always seem to get close. It fact though, it is a difficult level 5 (of 5) puzzle. Originally designed in 1933 by Theodore Edison, son of the famous inventor Thomas Edison, and made by his company Calibron Products of West Orange, N.J. It was offered as just pieces and you were told they made a rectangle and there was only 1 solution. Turns out the only possible solution is a square shape, as verified by Ken Irvine's computer analysis. Ken is working on a full analysis of the puzzle, with excerpts noted below. I will link that analysis here when it is available. I’m from Pittsburgh and I got a lot of puzzles! Mint condition. I always take perfect care of each and every one of my puzzles. If it is labeled as brand new it is brand new. Some puzzles I have some multiples. Some puzzles are super rare. Some puzzles are classics. Some of my listings aren’t even Puzzles. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. Feel free to make an offer. I value these puzzles and I hope you will too. I feel all prices are fair but I’m always willing to haggle within reason. LowBall offers will be immediately declined. If you need any help with solving a puzzle reach out. If the puzzle came with a solution it will be included. I have solved thousands of puzzles. Also, if you’re looking for specific puzzles, just ask and I’ll see what I can do. Thank you very much for your business. Puzzles have helped me a lot in my life and I hope they’ll do the same for you. Furthermore: 9 times out of 10 I get things shipped within 24hrs. But don’t hold me to it. I will go to the post office typically 5 of 6 days their open. I’ll always ship at least within 48 hours. I ship with Usps. But if you want a different service or upgraded shipping I can accommodate. I sometimes drop off a lot of packages at once so they don’t always scan them until they move to the next destination. So it may take an extra day or two for tracking to update. I suggest to copy and paste tracking into google. If it’s over 1lb it’s shipped priority. If it’s under 1lb or you make an offer for less than the listed price, it’s shipped first class. I include free shipping with all of my listings. If you want priority shipping don’t make an offer. Buy it at the listed price. So please take that into consideration. And I know the listings are marked as no returns accepted. But if there is something wrong I will for sure accept your return. Please do not break a puzzle and then expect a refund. I check every single puzzle before it ships. Please Understand, most of these puzzles are handcrafted in small batches at a time. Some of them are delicate. Absolutely no force is required ever. A lot of puzzles are made from laser cut wood. They can break with the use of force. Please, Please, Don’t break a puzzle and message me that you got a broken puzzle. In most cases if that happens it’s accidental and we can come to an agreement together on how to resolve the issue. Also no buy, solve, returns. Contact me the day you received it if there is a problem. Don’t wait 2 weeks and then contact me. I also do not collect your tax dollars. eBay keeps that. And, eBay isn’t free. I pay a lot to sell on eBay. Like, seriously a lot. I cover all of the PayPal fees. I buy all the boxes, bags, paper, tape, labels, printer ink, bubble wrap, ect.. All of this is taken into consideration when pricing. I am a private seller. I make very little using eBay. Just enough to cover the fees and buy a puzzle or two. This isn’t paying my bills. I still have a job. Although I am working on a website and purchasing wholesale so I can offer better prices and supply puzzles that you would typically have to buy from across seas. This was a hobby that has now gotten out of control. Once again, keep in mind I’m one person. It’s just me. I will do my very best to answer all messages and treat you as I would expect to be treated. Thanks so much to everyone for all of the support. Just living my best life because my previous life I made a lot of questionable choices. But I really enjoy puzzles. So thanks again and keep on puzzling puzzle people!! Furthermore, I’m constantly adding to this personal description of mine. But I like to be as descriptive as possible. If I list a difficulty rating, the rating is opinion based. And it’s not always my opinion. It may be based off of the manufactures opinion or another puzzle distributors opinion. But myself personally, I have struggled with level six puzzles. Then in return I have solved level 10 puzzles in five minutes before. If you are a novice in the puzzle game, message me. Please ask questions. I am always more than willing to help. I am not responsible for your personal solving experience. Everybody is different. But please do understand that I sell puzzles not wow! factors. I hope I don’t sound Jaded. But I have been put through the ringer dealing with some people here on eBay. But I very much enjoy being able to supply people with some fun puzzles. So if you don’t know what you’re buying please just message me and ask any and all questions. Once again thank you so very much to all the great people that have supported my store. Puzzle! Puzzle! Puzzle! Yay! Again I’m adding to this description. I’m pulling a lot of my high end puzzles in the future and moving them to the CD Marketplace. And that takes place four times a year. I do have a lot more puzzles than I have listed. But ultimately it takes a lot of time to create these listings. Time that I don’t always have. But I am back to work after being furloughed due to the pandemic. But I’m still making it to the post office five days a week. I’m still doing my thing here on eBay. Thank you to everyone for all the support.
