Description: A Historical Navy book of some significance. From the historical clues in the book, I believe this book traveled by horse-drawn wagon across the United States from Washington DC to San Francisco in 1896. From there it fell under the care of Professor George Davidson who helped establish the first observatory on the Pacific Coast of North America and provided the first accurate survey of the coastline. SIGNED: Only 1 handwritten inscription by George Davidson himself. Its Preface was written by Simon Newcomb who helped establish Benton's Law among many other accomplishments. You can find more about both men from their wikipedia articles. Will be fragile packed and shipped with insurance. Happy to answer any questions you may have.
