Description: This is a rare and collectible antique copy of The Book of Common Prayer, printed circa 1683. A date of 1775 is provided by an inscription from a previous owner. No page of the text specifies the publication date. This text was “printed for Thomas Guy and sold by him at the Oxford.” Thomas Guy printed and sold The Book of Common Prayer in 1682 and 1683, likely dating this text around that time. This copy is bound entirely in leather with detailing on the covers and gilt still showing as well. The spine has five raised gilt bands and beautiful gilt detailing in each well. The spine shows signs of cracking and all edges show wear. Pages have some foxing and browning. Binding is loose in some places but is in tact. The book measures 17cm tall and 10.5cm wide. Overall this is a really beautiful piece that would make a great addition to any collection.
