Description: I came across this at a sale over 20 years ago and was never able to get it looked at by someone knowledgeable in the field. I have searched over the years and have never seen another piece like this. I was never sure of the age, but this is possibly an antique wall hanging cast/mold of plaster material (?), painted a bronzey gold color. It depicts a robed goddess among columns and ruins. The reason why I feel that this piece is old is that the backing seems to be filled in and made with horsehair or some kind of animal hair (Shown in close-up photo #3). This piece was cast from a mold as you can see the seaming on the sides. This wall hanging is very heavy, weighs about 9 lbs. It has a secure metal hanger embedded in the plaster for hanging. I used to have it hung on a wall, but then later just propped it up against a wall corner. The size is 31 1/4 inches tall and 9.5 inches at it's widest point in the middle. There are cork protector stickers on back of hanging. The only damage is a bit of minor chipping in two spots by one of the columns. Another column appears to have a piece out of place...not sure if this was meant to be this way and was part of the casting, or if the previous owner had glued on a broken piece. It is hard to tell, but the piece does not line up on the column. I have provided photos of flaws. If you have any questions. I will happy to answer as best I can. I can not verify the age of this piece, please be aware of this before purchasing. Thank you.
