Vintage elegant 9ct yellow gold alexandrite ring

Description: A dazzling alexandrite ring. It is a beautiful oval cut stone and throws off amazing colour, which changes colours depending on the light. it is 9ct yellow gold ring size 17.7mm or size O and can be resized and stamped 9ct. The purple, fuchsia, blue stone, measures 6x4mm oval.! This tests as a sapphire on my presidium gem tester (which is also the range for alexandrite) and has colour change from artificial light to daylight. it looks blueish purple in some lights and magenta with green in others. The photography lighting makes it look more blue and truly does not do the gorgeous gemstone justice. Simple and chic! This 9ct gold mounting is ornate with swirls . The prongs both secure and frame the stone, letting plenty of light to shine through. alexandrite is a colour changing stone, and will reflect shades of regal purple to a teal green-blue depending on the light that hits the facets. Depending on light conditions, the colour of the alexandrite changes from a beautiful bluish-green to a superb reddish-purple. The colour-change variety of Chrysoberyl was first discovered in 1834 in Russia's Ural mountains by Nils Gustaf Nordenskiold of the St. Petersburg science academy. He was amazed that at night, under candle light, the stone changed its colour from an emerald green to a reddish purple. He named the newly discovered stone alexandrite, in Honor of Tsarevich Alexander.Tested as alexandrite on a presidium gem tester, most likely lab grown with all of the characteristics of a natural mined gemstone. Alexandrite is a birthstone for June and also the symbolic gemstone for the 45th and 55th years of marriage. It has been said to intensify the feelings of compassion, love and sensuality.
