Description: This adorable brown bear was made at the Basic Brown Bear company, located in San Francisco. It has a chubby look to it, and is also jointed. The Basic Brown Bear company was in operation since 1976 but closed its doors in the late 2000's due to competition. The making of these bears was a whole process. You picked the bear you wanted (only a few options), stuffed the bear, and picked out clothes for the bear! Sound familiar? There has been word that Build-a-Bear actually stole this concept from the Basic Brown Bear company and they went to court over it in 1999. Very interesting and also sad back story. This bear is just THAT much more special because the company is no longer in business. For many years small children enjoyed the factory and loved their bears. Most of which were helped by one of the owners! Perfect gift for someone that loves bears or had one as a child and needs another! The best part about this bear is it can sit completely on its own because of the joints. No flaws. Fur is in great condition. No smells. Has original tag label on it. Please keep in mind this bear isn't like the cheap stuffed bears sold all around. It actually has some weight to it and feels of great quality. Measures approximately 10.5" in length and 10" in width.
