Description: FANTASTIC VERY VINTAGE OR ANTIQUE SEWING BOX LABELED A "DARN-IT BOX." MY GUESS IS THAT IS FROM EITHER THE 1930'S OR 1940'S. BELONGED TO MY MOM WHO GRADUATED COLLEGE WITH A HOME ECONOMICS DEGREE IN 1941. SOUVENIR FROM SARATOGA SPRINGS, NEW YORK AS LABEL ON LOWER RIGHT CORNER INDICATES. CERTAINLY FROM A TIME WHEN PEOPLE NOT ONLY KNEW WHAT "DARNING" MEANT, BUT ALSO KNEW HOW TO DO IT! BEAUTIFUL WOOD IN REALLY GOOD CONDITION; CLOSES WITH A KNOTTED LEATHER PIECE THAT FITS INTO GROOVE IN TOP. ONLY FLAW IS THAT ONE OF THE TINY NAILS THAT HOLDS THE LEATHER "HINGE" IN PLACE IS MISSING (SEE THE LAST TWO PICTURES TO SEE) STILL OPENS AND CLOSES PROPERLY, BUT WOULD BENEFIT FROM A SMALL REINFORCEMENT -- EITHER A NAIL OR GLUE/FIXATIVE THAT DIDN'T EXIST WHEN THIS WAS MADE. APPROXIMATE DIMENSIONS ARRE 7 1/2 X 51/2 X 1 1/2 INCHES. TRULY GREAT CONDITION. SAME DAY EXPERT PACKING AND SHIPPING FROM A PETFREE/SMOKEFREE HOME
