Description: You are bidding on a page from an1870s nature publication. It depicts the natural Bridge in Virginia. Natural Bridge, known by locals as Natty B, in Rockbridge County, Virginia is a geological formation in which Cedar Creek (a small tributary of the James River) has carved out a gorge in the mountainous limestone terrain, forming an arch 215 ft (66 m) high with a span of 90 ft (27 m). It consists of horizontal limestone strata, and is the remains of the roof of a cave or tunnel through which the creek once flowed. Natural Bridge has been designated a Virginia Historical Landmark and a National Historical Landmark. The print has a caption below the image area. There is text on the backside, but it does not show through the thick paper. See scan and close-ups for a better idea of condition. The page size is approx. 9 x 11.75 inches. The image size is about 6.75 x 9.5 inches. The printing technique in this antique print looks to be woodcut style. This is NOT a recent copy or modern reproduction, but a GENUINE antique item. It would look wonderful framed as a gift! All prints are delivered in an archival sleeve and packed flat with heavy cardboard (or rolled in a sturdy box).
