The Zero-Mod 4003 is a custom thumb rest for the Rickenbacker 4003 bass.It requires NO modifications to your bass so you can keep it TOTALLY ORIGINAL -- TOTALLY VINTAGE! This version fits all 4003's with one-piece guards from its introduction right up to the 2014-2016 transition to the guard that's currently in use on all new 4003's.For the early 4003's with two-piece guards, the ZM-4001 might be a better fit (contact us to verify that for you). The current 4003 needs the 4003v2. I designed this for my own 4003 as I wanted to make it more comfortable to play and keep the "cover on" as the classic look is a big part of this bass for many Ric fans. This thumb rest is made out of one quarter inch thick high quality white acrylic, and precision CNC made in a machine shop here in the USA. The position and design mean NO NEW HOLES in your bass! Includes two pick guard screws which are slightly longer than the stock Ric screws, so you do not even change the screw holes by adding this on. Invisible on guard from a few feet away... Now available in WHITE - along with the other finishes CLEAR, FROST, and BLACK We FINALLY found an acrylic with a the right shade and quality to make white available. Our 4003 model is custom made for the Rickenbacker 4003 bass. It is very close, but not quite interchangeable with the 4001 Model. For the fit and look to be 100% right on, All Rickenbacker models MUST usethe appropriate Zero-Mod version - please read the following: RIC PARTICULARS - Due to variations in models and years and the EXACT FIT these are made to, it is not possible to offer a "one size fits all" version - Believe me it would make our lives easier! We have a few out on Tokai Ric copies now and they fit well. Will the ZM-4003 Fit My Ric? Best Method - After verifying by the pictures that you don't need a 4003v2, measure the distance between the two screws - (screw center to screw center) - the ones above the neck pickup that you would use to mount the thumb rest - 84mm is a classic 4003 This model FITS ALL Ric 4003 basses through 2013 with a one piece pickguard.(Older 4003's with two piece pickguards may require a 4001 style rest. )This model also fits all 2014 4003's other than SOME 2014 4003W's (2014 was the year the new pickguard style began being transitioned into the Rickenbacker 4003 line, beginning with the 4003W)This fits most standard 2015 4003's, but NOT the 4003W or the 4003S.It likely will not fit any 2016 Ric 4003's... BUT, see the 2 pictures of the pickguard differences to be certain. The Zero-Mod solution for the NEW 4003 pickguard style is our model 4003v2, available in separate listings. The following information applies only to Ric 4001's and some early 4003's with 2-piece guards, which are available in separate listings: 85mm screw-center to screw-center is a newer style 4001 and some 2-piece guard 4003's (requires our 4001 rest).87mm screw-center to screw-center is on the older style 4001 and some of the custom models (requires the 4001vtg87 rest).
